Task
We were tasked to not only update Svea Solar’s identity but also give the whole energy industry a new face. To breathe a new life into an outdated industry with the intention of getting people to act and shift to renewable energy. The energy issue has long been characterised by low interest, but this is something that Svea Solar is here to change. The brand and product is something that you want to incorporate into your lifestyle. It should be inspiring and easy to live sustainably without having to limit your consumption.
We developed a distinct visual system playing with the notion of ‘power’. This allowed us to create a suite of visual assets that are fresh, bright and forward-thinking. Combining a bright electric visual style with bold product imagery allowed SVEA Solar to sit strategically between creativity and technology.
Creative Strategy
Overhauling an already globally established green energy company had various challenges. We defined these into two tasks from the offset that would give the branding work clear objectives & KPIs. Task 1: A perception shift. How can we re-brand the green energy sector? To be Sweden’s biggest solar energy company, we must position them away from the green energy cliché. By working closely alongside the team, we crafted a comprehensive identity that is far removed from all the stagnant aesthetic tropes prevalent in the sustainable energy industry.
Task 2: A mindset shift. How can we make people think differently about using power? With the notion of ‘power’ leading the brand’s creative direction, we embodied SVEA’s unique balance of unrivalled industry expertise and its innovative, industry-disrupting attitude. Svea Solar is shifting power; therefore, the brand message calls for all to join the global power shift from fossil to green energy.
Brand
The brand identity and visual system directly evolved from the strategic positioning to set the company between creativity and technology. The brand assets struck this tone by contrasting SVEA’s electric colour palette with a slick typographic system combined across SVEA’s digital and physical touchpoints. Subsequently, the brand not only stood out, but it stood for something, capturing a striking, optimistic tone not seen within the industry before. The outcome of the work since the launch in 2020 is that Svea Solar is now positioned as a global market leader.
Digital
The brand was built from a digital-first lens to be a true disruptor within the market. We developed the digital platform by creating a component-based system. This modular approach allowed us to use various visual elements to populate the platform with a multitude of content. This gave Svea Solar the tools to have full control and flexibility on building out content components. We built the platform from the ground up. The technical stack combines React, Next.js, Chakra UI with a very usable Sanity CMS.
Not only did we update Svea Solar's identity, in a way we gave the whole energy industry a new face. We breathed a new life into an outdated industry, intending to get people to act and shift to renewable energy and Justified played the lead role in this.
